I’m just going to need you to add Squirt (remember that soft drink!?) to the grocery list for the weekend. No, Squirt has not gone the way of say, TAB, but does still hold a place in the soda aisle. I’ll tell ya, there is room in my fridge and in my heart for this grapefruit soda because it happens to make a VERY GOOD quickie margarita.
As much as I want a margarita every weekend, these are decidedly NOT the days to be squeezing fresh lime juice. I simply don’t have the emotional energy or the physical stamina. Enter: The Backyard Margarita.
A Backyard Margarita is coined from the vibe. Backyards have pools. Pools have floaties. Floaties are where we belong this weekend. If we’re in the pool on a floatie, we don’t have the time to mix all the margaritas we need to drink. It’s simple logistics.
I’ve done the math. Tequila + Squirt Soda = The World’s Fastest Margarita. Adding a squeeze of fresh grapefruit and lime is a low lift and excellent touch. And a Tajin rim add the exact right amount of salt, spice, and fancy.
I invested in these outdoor margarita glasses from Williams Sonoma and have been shocked by the look and quality of these plastic glasses. As you know, no running and no glass by the pool so….
Here’s to a fine August weekend, friends! xo
