How to Make Garlic Butter Mushrooms

This side dish is super easy to make with only a few simple ingredients. Clean mushrooms with a damp paper towel and cut them into slices. In a large skillet, melt unsalted butter over high heat. Add sliced mushrooms, lemon juice, lemon zest, fresh garlic cloves, dijon mustard, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, fresh parsley, fresh chives, fresh thyme, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir well. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, until the mushrooms are tender and caramelized. Season with salt and black pepper.

Helpful Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can use any variety of mushrooms you prefer. I use white button mushrooms and baby portabella mushrooms in the photos. I’ve also made this recipe with oyster, shiitake, and creminis. Just throw them all in the pan!
  • Use a damp paper towel to gently clean the dirt off of the mushrooms before slicing.
    • Do not soak the mushrooms in water. They will absorb the liquid and become very watery.
